Wear a floral pencil skirt instead of a solid colored one is a great way to change up your work outfit during spring and summer. The key to make the outfit work appropriate is to keep the colors simple and the rest of the outfit classic and clean.
Sometimes the simplest outfit is the best, especially for a relaxing weekend. I love how simple and fresh this outfit is. Also, the distressed high waisted shorts added some spark to the outfit. It is a great go-to when you are in a rush or just simply have no idea about what to wear.
I was wearing:
Top: Forever 21 (exact)
Shorts: American Eagle (exact)
Sandals: Steve Madden (similar; last worn here)
Every girl needs an outfit that can take her from a regular work day to
after work happy hours.
To be honest, we usually don't have time to go home and get change or
bring a totally different outfit with us.
sharing with you how I transform my work outfit for after work activities.
First, choose the right dress. For a work to
play outfit, I like to choose dresses that have surprise elements/designs,
for example, cut outs on the back or flowy sleeves (like the dress below).
Those designs will help to make the dress more appropriate for the happy
hour. But at the same time, the surprise elements/designs need to be easy to be covered, so the outfit can be work appropriate as well. Add a blazer or cardigan is the easiest way to cover up the not work appropriate parts of the dress.
Second, switch accessories. Different accessories can transform the look dramatically. I like to wear subtle and classic accessories for the work look and switch to bold and flashy accessories for the after work look. For this outfit, I switched the necklace to a statement necklace and used a more dramatic belt for the after work outfit.
Third, change shoes is another key. A pair of more playful shoes can also help to transform the work outfit into an after work outfit.
A pair of white jeans is perfect for the summer, they are a great way to instantly refresh any outfit. I love to pair my white jeans with a vibrant color top, so the white jeans can make the color pop.
What is your favorite way to wear your white jeans? Comment below to let me know!
Monochromatic outfit is usually very hard to pull off since it could easily make your outfit looks too "matchy-matchy". But, if you style the outfit in the right way, a monochromatic outfit can make you look taller and chic.
Today, I decided to break out of my comfort zone and put together a monochromatic outfit. I stayed away from black and white and decided to go with a "blue on blue" outfit since it is more challenging and I have enough different blue pieces to put this look together.
I tried different combinations with different pieces and I liked how the outfit below turned out the best. What I have learned from my many attempts is: the key of a monochromatic outfit is to use different hue/shade and texture to create differences within the same color.
Bright color shorts are definitely summer wardrobe essentials. For me, the best way to wear bright shorts is to pair them with a crisp white shirt. In this way, the bright color shorts stand out as a statement piece while the whole look is not so overwhelming.
You can pair them with a simple white t-shirt to dress down the outfit or pair them with a white button down shirt (like my outfit below) to dress the look up.
I have been exploring how to dress up my causal weekend outfits to make them appropriate for work recently. Today, I'm going to use one of my favorite weekend outfits as an example to show you some of my tips and tricks.
This outfit is my first attempt to play with mix prints. I love how it turned out. The outfit is causal; fun and perfect for weekends.
Here are my tips and tricks about how to turn a causal weekend outfit into a work outfit.
First, add a blazer. Blazers never fail to make a outfit more dressy and formal. Since my outfit already has a lot of colors and prints, I just added a simple white blazer to make the outfit more dress up.
Second, accessorize! Statement necklaces can easily help you dress up an causal outfit. If statement necklaces are not your thing, try scarfs.
Last but not least, wear heels. Black pumps and nude pumps are the classics. Adding a pair of black pumps or nude pumps is the easiest way to make any outfit more formal and work appropriate.
